Made for ordinary family life

You care. You are also completely knackered.

Connection does not always need an afternoon activity, a craft cupboard or a parenting personality transplant.

“I’ve only got five minutes.”

Choose one small action that fits between dinner, homework and finding the water bottle again.

“My tone got there first.”

Borrow a sentence for coming back after a difficult moment without turning it into a grand speech.

“I have no ideas left.”

Use the low-energy version. Keep one useful thing. There is no streak to lose.

A small taste

Try this before the questions.

“Hey, you. I’m glad to see you.”

Offer a hello that asks for nothing. Then let the next bit arrive.

From Day 1: A softer landing.

What is inside the free Reset?

Seven tiny daily actions, exact words to borrow, a lower-energy option for every day, a quick repair practice and a one-page plan you can return to.

Start on any day. Repeat a favourite. Skip anything that does not suit your child. No streaks. No gold stars. You can start again on a Thursday.

About the creator

Hi, I’m James.

I’m the dad and writer behind SocialDad.ca. I have spent years writing about modern fatherhood, family life, men’s mental health, technology and the strange number of water bottles one child can misplace.

I made these resources for the moments when you care deeply and still cannot think of what to say. The goal is a useful next step that fits real life, including tired days.

A few fair questions

Do I have to complete every day?

No. Start anywhere, repeat what works and come back when you can.

Will this work for every child?

No resource suits every child or family. Treat the ideas as invitations, adapt them to your child, offer choices and respect a no. No particular outcome is guaranteed.

Do I need a printer?

No. Both resources can be read on a device. The toolkit also includes separate printable card pages and fillable worksheets.

Is the toolkit a subscription?

No. CA$29 is a one-time purchase for the downloadable files described here.

What if I have trouble downloading it?
