Cameras, just like phones have been getting more and more powerful but so much less fun. I miss the good ol’ days of every kind of new device looking different and most importantly fun.

In the early-mid 2000s, Lomography cameras brought a trendy revival of shooting on 35mm cameras, but with intentional light flares and quirky lenses. Novelty aside, the film was and remains to be expensive and easy to mess up a whole roll. The beauty of using the Paper Shoot Camera is that you get to put your phone away and embrace the fun of photography while holding something beautiful and not having to change the pricey 35mm film every 24 shots. They did do something truly important though. They made us think about the photo we’re taking, the composition, the light, and the subject. With phones and digital cameras, it’s far too easy to snap away, cherry-pick the good ones and forget the rest. Since I was a boy, I’ve had a camera, and capturing moments made me truly happy. The Paper Shoot camera brings back that fun, thoughtfulness, and happiness to something we’ve been taking for granted.

Created by Taiwanese inventor George Lin, the battery-operated Paper Shoot looks like a film camera but is actually digital, able to store up to 32 GB of photos in a cleverly hidden SD card.

It’s easy to customize the electronic body with interchangeable art-inspired covers and a variety of lenses. Photos taken using the four filters—sepia, black and white, blue and normal—come out with a warm, filmlike quality but without film’s high price tag and environmental impact.

The creator of the camera wanted to ensure that sustainability and eco-consciousness were key parts of the camera’s life.

The Papershoot Camera’s Sustainability Goals:

1. Create sustainable, long-lasting alternatives to film and disposable cameras
2. Take a break from phones & social media and get back to living in and capturing the moment
3. Encourage creativity through simplicity
4. Pay workers fair, living wages, and provide clean, safe, and healthy workspaces
5. Inclusivity – a camera that anyone can use, despite age or skill level

Shipping withing Canada and USA, the Paper Shoot Cameras are now available at papershootcamera.com

Oh wow that’s very cool! So does it give a film type look or a higher quality image like a professional camera?
