Finding the right music for a mood can be a daunting task, where I often settle for something familiar. Sometimes I just want to hear something new, but never know where to start.

Since the days of mix tapes and then compilation CDs that I used to make by recording songs from the radio or downloading one track at a time through Napster, I’ve been fascinated by music that transports you and makes you feel something that you didn’t know you craved.

This week, I went down a Spotify blackhole, jumping from playlist to playlist and found Radhika.Sheth. I don’t know if that’s a real name, but they have created the most perfect playlists with wonderfully specific names. The songs he/she/they have chosen fit a mood I didn’t know I had at every point of my day.

Lists like ‘A small town in an indie film‘, ‘Black coffee kind of day‘, and ‘Cherry cola by the pool on a lazy Sunday‘ are all carefully chosen and must have taken incredible patience and a rare depth of musical understanding.

A personal favourite is ‘Slytherin house pride’, music full of beauty, lyrics full of attitude and stories, and obscure tracks that are fitting of the mysterious and often villainous characters from the Harry Potter universe. I would have never discovered if it wasn’t for the playlist creator.
