The first day of Summer is almost here and I can’t wait.
Here in Vancouver, we got snow, more snow than usual, and the city was a mess. Then it melted, and oh look, more snow.

After what seemed like months, it melted and turned to rain. We all ducked for cover and waited it out.

Now, the clouds are starting to part and remind us what we love about this place – going outside.

Vancouver in the sun is a wonderful thing. The hiking trails open up, we can run outside, hit the beach, play in the park, and explore the market on Granville Island.
In addition to an Arts school, boat yard, public market, and my favourite hot dog booth in the city, the mini peninsula (not an actual island) is Granville Island Brewery. The ‘GIB’ creates some genuinely delicious local beers and ales, since of which are seasonal like their Lions Summer Ale.
“Lively tropical fruit notes balanced with an easy-going personality are perfect after a paddle on the water, a hike up to your favourite lookout or wherever your next sunshine adventure takes you.” – Granville Island Brewery
The Lions Summer Ale is refreshing and light, without being overly fruity. Served ice cold, it’s perfect for enjoying on a long evening after work, or while cooking some juicy burgers on the BBQ.
I’m just getting into the whole ‘craft beer’ thing, as I’ve always been a Heineken or Carlsburg man. This was the drink that, after the first sip made my eyebrows go up and become genuinely interested in the flavours over the familiar.
Cheers 🍻
