By: A Tired Husband and Dad Who Just Wanted a Quiet Q3/4
“You’re doing Boo Baskets again this year, right?”
The Summer is barely over, and I’ve already been hit with a request for another f–festive ‘Boo Basket’ aka a basket of gifts that my wife and daughter “need” to get through the Autumn. I know I could just say no, but it is pretty fun to give them their goodies on a rainy day. It’s also useful to pull out when I’m in the doghouse for saying/doing/thinking/being/existing wrong (even if it was in one of their dreams, apparently that still counts).
So, we’re back. And not just one. Two Boo Baskets. One for our daughter. One for my wife. Do I get one too? hahahaha no. Because last year’s trend is now a full-blown tradition for them.
So here’s what I’ve pulled together to fill two baskets. Pro-tip: Give yourself some time between making the basket and giving it, because they’ll likely drop hints/requests for things that aren’t in there.
Note – I’m probably going to add to this list, because I’ll remember things, find clues, or discover cool stuff that deserves a mention. So keep checking back! (and feel free to comment below on things I should include!)
👧 For My Daughter: Cute, Cozy, and Slightly Chaos-Inducing
- Fizz-N-Fun Kids Bath Bomb Set from Naples Soap Company
Bath time just became a glittery explosion of colours and chaos. She loves it and they smell pretty nice.

🧺 Boo Basket Dad Tips (Learn From My Mistakes)
- Choose a basket that looks aesthetic. Translation: no plastic Halloween buckets.
- Add cozy filler like faux leaves, tissue paper, or a small plaid blanket.
- Write a cute note. My go-to: “Boo! You’ve been spoiled.”
- Sneak in some candy. Then sneak out and eat the rest.
- While you’re out “shopping for the girls”, go and get yourself a few books, maybe some lovely socks, and have a cheeky nap in the car in the parking lot. Treat yourself.
